A REPORT ON CHILD LABOR AND CAMEL JOCKEY SITUATION\r\n\r\nIncreasing ratio of child labor in the Punjab had been effecting economic growth and spoiling health and future of the children involved. According to a survey Punjab has the highest number of child workers with 60% in the national aggregate fallowed by 20% in the NWFP 14% in Sindh and 6% in Balochistan. Moreover 70% of the total working children were illiterate.\r\n\r\nIn district Muzaffar Garh the Child labor ratio is increasing day by day. Here are many kinds of child labor. The children’s are working at Hotels, Zari Centers, Workshops, Brick Killen and other places. \r\n\r\nBasti Hamzay Wali Tehsil Jatoi District Muzaffar Garh was once known a village of camel jockey children. Here are 150 children from Basti Hamzay wali had been send to the UAE in last 15 years by their parents or agents the UAE sent back these children to Pakistan last year now these children have started a new life here, with the support of the UNICEF, district government and AIMS Organization. The district Government has setup a school with the help of UNICEF to enroll jockeys and AIMS Organization was mobilizing the community for enroll their children in this school. The school has no facility of furniture, classrooms, clean drinking water, toilets ,library and other facilities.\r\n AIMS Organization Muzaffar Garh discussed the local community on this issue and aware the community about the harm of child labor. \r\n\r\nThis year 171 Camel jockey children from Muzaffar Garh were reunited with their families a total of 200 children from Muzaffar Garh were sent to the UAE to serve as jockeys up to 30 children’s are still awaiting their families in a shelter centre of Multan because they were kidnapped at in early aged and do not have any information about their village or families.\r\n\r\n\r\nReport By:\r\n\r\nDr.Ashiq Zaffar Bhatti\r\nExecutive Director\r\nAIMS Organization\r\n+923017870843\r\n
