"Widespread unemployment in the global\r\neconomy over the past 30 years has become the most pressing social and economic problem of our time, because it is closely related to poverty, on the one hand, and social peace and political stability on the other. Observers generally agree that the fallout from the global financial and economic crisis has further aggravated the labour market situation in most countries, as millions of workers have lost their jobs or suffered wage cuts. There is a particularly close link between unemployment and poverty in developing countries, where public social security systems are rare and workers are forced into more vulnerable jobs and into informal sector activities for fear of descending into poverty.\r\n\r\n\r\n"TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2010"\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\ndd\r\n\r\n
