This report is structured around the concept of inclusive growth, particularly in agriculture. At first it examines the current state of agriculture in Africa, the importance of the rural non-farm sector and the linkages between these two sectors. Continental and international initiatives to promote inclusive growth in agriculture are discussed (NEPAD CAADP GAFSP). Strategies and ADB activities in this field are also reviewed and analyzed. The main levers to support inclusive agricultural growth are identified: investment and regional integration, private sector involvement, R & D, local institutions, social inclusion, land and political rights of social protection.
