The consulting firm PwC has published a report on the development potential of 20 African cities. A document entitled "Into Africa, the continent's cities of opportunity." To release a comprehensive view of the potential of these 20 cities, PwC has identified four major indicators: the economy, infrastructure, human capital and demographics. Indicators that comprise 29 variables. Given these criteria, Cairo, Tunis, Johannesburg, Casablanca and Algiers are in the top 5 places. But the predominance of North African cities, which relies heavily on historical seniority could tip in the coming decades in favor of the southern Sahara, with cities such as Lagos, Accra, Addis Ababa and Nairobi. A useful tool for private investors as well as for public policy makers cities.
